The ‘recordmecca‘ website is selling a very rare handbill from London’s legendary Marquee Club, advertising shows during March 1966 featuring The Yardbirds (with Jeff Beck), David Bowie & The Buzz, the Small Faces, the Spencer Davis Group (with Steve Winwood) and many more.
The Marquee was “the” club in swinging London, and this handbill illustrates why–in addition to the artists listed above, this month featured shows by The Action, Manfred Mann, the Graham Bond Organization, Gary Farr & the T-Bones, Davy Graham, Jimmy Cliff, Irma Thomas, The Steam Packet (with Long John Baldry, Julie Driscoll, Brian Auger and the Trinity and Rod Stewart), Jo Ann Kelly, the Dick Morrissey Quartet and more.
